ANGEL HOUSE
RESOURCE CENTER
January 8th was the grand opening of the Angel
House in Coweta County.  The house still will
not be open to occupants for a couple more
weeks.

There were several in attendance including Mrs.
Sonny Perdue who was the guest speaker.
Also, Mrs. Alan Jackson spoke at the event.  As
you know, Alan and Denise Jackson have been
big supporters in constructing the Angel House.
Alan has performed concerts to raise money as
well as donate a car for raffle.

In the audience were staff members of DFACS,
Coweta County Health Department workers,
press from local paper, local businesses, and
individuals from the county.

Once the formalities were complete, everyone
was invited indoors to tour the beautiful new
house.  There is a designated wing for the boys
rooms and a separate wing for the girls. There
are a total of eight bedrooms (four for each
sex).  Between each bedroom is a large
bathroom with two sinks.

Each bedroom contains two twin beds, a
dresser, two closets, and other miscellaneous
furniture.  Every room is decorated differently
in bold, bright colors. An additional wing for the
house parents includes two private bedrooms
that contain a private bath in each.  There is
another den for the private use of the house
parents and two offices.  In the main lobby of
the home, which is located between each wing
of bedrooms, the family room and large kitchen
area can be found.    Downstairs is the
recreational area, with activates such as  ping-
pong, foosball, air hockey,  and television.

Downstairs is a private interview room where
the children can talk about their life, and feelings
to a therapist/social worker.  This room is
equipped with the ability to tape these therapy or
visitations sessions if needed.

Throughout the house are displays of angel
artwork to coordinate the theme of “Angel
House”.  Everyone in attendance was excited
about the new home and the positive influence
that the community has had with the project.
